About the Phil Kearny Civil War Roundtable

of Northern New Jersey

The Phil Kearny Civil War Roundtable of Northern New Jersey was formed in September, 1999 from the participants of a civil war discussion group that met at the Barnes and Noble bookstore in West Paterson, New Jersey. We meet monthly in the Wayne Township public library. Meetings start at 7:30 PM and are open to the public. Until September, 2002 we were known as the 41st NJVI Civil War Roundtable. According to our bylaws, the purpose of this organization shall be to promote and further stimulate interest in all aspects and phases of the American Civil War period, and to further the serious study and discussion of the War Between the States.

As part of our commitment to promote interest in the Civil War, we have adopted the 2nd Vermont Brigade monuments and markers at the Gettysburg National Military Park. This is a commitment that requires our group to travel to Gettysburg each Spring and Fall to clean up our monuments and the surrounding area. We believe that by helping to maintain this important historic site we promote interest in the Civil War by making the Gettysburg experience a pleasant visit for all.
